“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day
is the rest we take between two deep breaths…”
Note: To my readers, this is to let you know of my plans of taking a break from blogging.
And If you are a blogger, please read it with a grain of salt. You are the best judge of your own choices.
Have you ever tried or have done something you never knew you were going to love?
However, with so many commitments and responsibilities in between, you are coming to realize that finding time for the thing/s you enjoy the most is almost impossible?
Nine months ago this blog was created out of a need. A need to challenge myself to find that something that will make me feel alive again. To find my passion.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a wife too and a mom and every other hat that I wear on my head before this blog. And I couldn’t be more grateful about it! But I had become comfortable about my daily responsibilities. I had become complacent that my life started running on auto-pilot. I stopped pushing myself, I stopped dreaming because I thought I already have everything that will make me happy. In some part, that’s true, in another, it’s not.
Have you ever heard of the phrase, “When you stop dreaming, you start dying”?
I certainly didn’t want to start dying before I can even live my life. I realized that something has to change and that’s when this blog was born. It all started with a Start A Blog challenge, designed to help people discover their passions. And I do believe that I am beginning to understand what it is that excites me inside. — It is realizing the endless possibilities there are out there.
There are endless possibilities out there. But you have to keep looking for it, chase it, pursue it and make it happen. The choice is yours.Click To Tweet
So I jumped in, both feet, in this whole blogging thing! I didn’t really know or fully understood what I’m getting myself into. I just know that I had to try to trust that things will just fall in its place at the right time. And it is! Slowly.
However, having stumbled upon another bump in the road yet again, I realized that there are so much more to learn and to do. And with little time I have available in the current season of my life, finding balance to do it all is a little bit more challenging than I can handle at the moment. So instead of throwing my hands up in the air and calling it quits altogether, I decided to step back and slow down.
How do you know when a blogging break is needed?
Try asking yourself these questions and find out for yourself.
- Are you feeling tired and exhausted beyond normal?
- Are you feeling stressed out of your mind about what to write next?
- Does it still excites you to blog or has it become more of a chore?
- Did you hit a wall and can’t think of an interesting topic to write about?
- Do you feel like the weight of the world is upon your shoulder?
- Do you feel like you’re running around in circles and not accomplishing anything in your blog?
- Has your blog become stagnant?
- Have you been learning and continue growing or are you stuck?
- Are you feeling short-tempered more often?
- Are you getting enough rest or are you staying up later and later worried about your next big project?
- Do you feel like your plate is overflowing and that you are about to burst any moment?
- What about your family, have you been able to spend quality time with them or are they being put aside like every other things that’s on our never-ending to-do lists ?
If you answered Yes to most of the questions above, then maybe it’s time to re-assess your situation and decide what’s the best next move for you. I am no expert by any means. I am simply sharing what I understand, and have experienced or experiencing in my own blogging journey. So take it with a grain of salt. Use your own judgement.
Is this IT for me or you?
Absolutely NOT for me! But it depends on you, of course. I am only realizing and now am recognizing the fact, that I need a break, a Blogging Break. As much as I have come to love and enjoy sharing my thoughts with the world, there are other things that I need to take care first. It doesn’t mean that I’m quitting, it only means that I needed some breathing room for now.
I must say though, that after accepting the fact of a Blogging Break, and deciding to actually do it, I feel lighter. I feel like a weight of my shoulder has been lifted. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I can relax. I feel hopeful again and the excitement about the possibilities of Blogging can offer is slowly returning to me.
Some of you might be thinking, But you’ve only put in 9 months so far. True, blogging is a lot of work. But now I realized that I would like to learn to blog smarter not harder, and know that somehow it can be done. I’m not sure how yet, but I aim to find out. You shouldn’t have taken up blogging if you’re not up for the work. Maybe. Or you should have not started it without knowing and fully understanding what you are going to face. In some cases, that’s true, but sometimes Experience is our best teacher. That’s the road I have taken and I have no regrets. And if given a do-over I will probably do it again!
So it has come to this…
I realized that there is an enormous potential in blogging in so many ways. Though I have only been blogging for 9 months, I have learned a great deal already. Below are some of the lessons I have learned so far.
- It is exciting and challenging at the same time. (which I like!)
- It’s a LOT of work! From learning, to setting-up,to writing, to maintaining, and not to mention, social media! There’s just SO MUCH to be done! (I’m not complaining!)
- Once you start building your little community, it feels very rewarding!
- Being able to speak your mind and heart is…liberating!
- Being able to help, inspire, and encourage others is, oh so WORTH IT ALL!
- But most especially, finding your PASSION along the way, now that is SOMETHING!
What happens now?
For now, I am taking a Blogging Break indefinitely. Some have taken a week or two or more, it depends on what you need. I know mine is pretty vague but I want to take this opportunity to educate myself about this field and learn some more. I want to be able to spend some time to read through the books and watch courses that my loving and supportive husband have graciously bought for me. I want to do it all without having the pressure of having to come up with new posts and projects every so often.
You see, I have higher hopes and bigger dreams for my blog aside from sharing our daily life’s journey. So this is where I really want to focus my time and energy.
My blog will remain here, so you are welcome to come back and read older posts anytime you want. However, subscription is necessary if you would like to gain access to my library of free resources. Which at the moment, contains learning packs for young kids, planners for moms and dads, and printable quotations to inspire you.
And as I learn, I will be applying it to my blog. So the blog might look a little different when it’s all said and done.
