It’s fall! And welcome to week 3 of Tot School with little lady O! This is the second part of my tot school post series that I talked about yesterday. If you missed week 1 and 2 of our tot school, you can check it out here and here. Please bear with me for one more day after this as I talk about tot school with our little girl. I just didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share with you what we have been doing here at home to get our little girl involved in our homeschool. So I hope I’m not boring you and you’d decide to stick around to follow us on our journey!
Since fall is officially here, I thought I would introduce our little girl to the season. So I put together a simple pumpkin sensory bin for her. It takes really nothing to make it! Pumpkin gourds, little Styrofoam pumpkins and fake fall leaves plus a maple leaf tray (to keep up with the theme), an empty container, and a spoon and she had a blast exploring!
She loved collecting the little pumpkins into the tray while we count. And then put them into the container to mix it! She’s also learned textures and shapes as she played with the pumpkin gourds and different leaves made out of felt and plastic. I was very pleased on how our pumpkin sensory bin turned out considering that I didn’t really put too much effort into it! Just a quick trip to the dollar store and voila!
Other activities on her shelf this week:
Her favorite activity in this particular week besides exploring her pumpkin sensory bin was the magnetic fishing puzzle game. I tied the string of the fishing stick into a knot to shorten it and when I did I was amazed at how quick she learned the concept of the game!
We played this game several times! She fished out each sea animals while we count and say the names. Then when she “caught” them all, she would try to fish it back to the board! I got such a kick at her! She did try to put them back to its original place on the board but she haven’t quite got that idea.
She played with her stacking ring as well and had fun with it but not as much as the magnetic fishing game. I showed her how to stack the rings in order then she tried to copy. But really she was more interested in just packing the rings around the house! Lol!
Did I mention that this little girl loves reading? Yeah! And this time I finally caught her in camera! I read to her and her brothers read to her but we usually couldn’t finish a book together. She would rather hold the book herself and flip through the pages in her own leisure time! That’s how she usually is in the photo above, sitting on the floor by the bookshelf, pulling out all her books, picking the ones she wants to read and just go to town! It makes me happy to see her this way!
Well, that’s it for today! I hope you are able to take away something! Please come back tomorrow for week 4 of Tot School! That should be the last one of the tot school posts series to get us caught up at where we are now. After, I planned to do a weekly post of our tot school adventure so I wouldn’t be scrambling around again trying to get everything out in one shot! Lol! So stay tuned for that!
